Awards for Action against Antisocial Behaviour

Cathy Peattie MSP is calling on Falkirk Herald readers to help find local residents who have made a real difference in tackling antisocial behaviour in their community.

"The Standing Up to Antisocial Behaviour Awards 2006 aim to raise awareness of the difference individuals and groups can make in their community, said Cathy.

"I want local residents to make sure local heroes are nominated and get the recognition they deserve for the work they have done to tackle antisocial behaviour.

“The Antisocial Behaviour Act gave the council and police powers that they needed to tackle offenders, and we know the measures are making a difference. However, it is most effective when local people make their contribution, and this deserves recognition. It could be a group of young people who have been raising money for a local facility, or an individual who witnessed antisocial behaviour and gave evidence in court. It could be a community warden or police officer who has gone above and beyond the call of duty. This is our chance to say thank you.”

Nominations must be received by 30th June and anyone can nominate an individual or group for an award. To nominate, log on to www.antisocialbehaviourscotland.com, call 0800 169 5013 for a nomination form, or write to Cathy Peattie MSP with your nomination.
