More Funding for Schools

Falkirk schools are to get nearly £800,000 to enhance school buildings and develop state-of-the-art facilities. Falkirk East MSP Cathy Peattie has welcomed the increase from £2.7m to £3.499m, part of an additional £30 million being distributed by the Scottish Executive.

“The additional money will be targeted at older schools,” said Cathy.

“The cash will be used to improve and modernise school grounds, sports facilities and canteens, including introducing cashless payment systems that provide anonymity for those on free school meals, encouraging more to take them.

“This will not only encourage healthier lifestyles and advance learning, it will also free up more of schools devolved spending for books and equipment.”
