Need a bus to Slamannan after 9.30pm?

Falkirk East MSP Cathy Peattie is calling on Falkirk Council to look at the problems of public transport users in rural areas.

“I've had a few complaints about bus services in rural areas, particularly Slamannan,” said Cathy. “There have been changes to services there, so that now the last bus to Slamannan leaves Falkirk at half past nine, which is a major problem for shift workers, students and those having a night out.

“The cost of a taxi is prohibitive for many. Communities such as Slamannan lack amenities that those in more urban areas take for granted, and the changes in rural services are making them increasingly isolated.

“There appears to have been little or no consultation with the local community regarding their transport needs. Falkirk Council's leadership has a habit of blaming others for problems, but local public transport is among their responsibilities and they should work with the bus companies to address this matter.”
